A Move-Based Analysis of Research Article Abstracts by Natives and Non-native Writers of English A Comparative Study

An abstract is the main part of a Research Article (RA) that gives major outlook whole article and it makes reader decide to read or leave particular article. It less studied in terms research, especially context Pakistan. Therefore, this study aimed compare abstracts research articles written by native (American) non-native (Pakistani) authors. The focus current investigate frequency percentage each move RA composed writers English. To achieve end, corpus 30 collected Hyland’s (2000) five-move model applied analyse data. results show 1 (Introduction) occurred all (60) obligatory Pakistani as well American context. Furthermore, difference Conclusion 73%. On other hand, remaining three moves including purpose, method product similar contexts with minor differences. recommended more comparative be done on specific subject utilizing data sources.
